OBSESSION: Are You obsessed with the right stuff?

(old Tumblr post)

So this is totally random but I just wondered about some stuff. Lately, I have been obsessed with Kim Hyun Joong because of cuteness and let’s face it, his features (whether it be his dashing smile to his capturing glares, from his physique body structure to his heart melting singing voice). Some may not agree with me when I say those because they all have their own opinions about tastes in people and music.

Well, I started being obsessed. I’m not talking about the whole “stalker” obsession but like a little girl who is obsessed with their favorite singers. Daydreaming what it’d be like to be married to them, etc. You get the picture. Although, these are just normal for most people, how far are we willing to let it go through?

I say, “are you obsessed on the right stuff?” because I’ve come to realize that I have been more obsessed with singers and actors that it’s bringing them higher than my obsession with God.

We all have our faults and sometimes we don’t realize that we put other things or people first before God, which is not exactly right. It’s okay to love some things and admire other people but it’s not right to let it control your life, losing focus on what’s really important, Jesus Christ.

In the end, ask yourself this question: "Is this going to bring me closer to Home (Heaven) and stronger with Christ?"

If the answer is No then it’s better to let it die down. I’m not saying that you will be stuck on whatever obsession you have (that’s not Christ) for the rest of your life, but that’s just an assumption. I don’t know how you guys feel but I do know that I feel like crap if I want to give up something I really like. But in the end it will be worth it.

Remember, things in this world won’t be with you when you die and stand before God for judgment.

If you’re going to be obsessed, let it be something that will strengthen your faith and love in Christ than what will take you away from Him.

Be obsessed with His Word because THAT’S what will save you, bring you closer to Him.

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:19-21)

"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money." (Matthew 6:24)
